Featured Wedding!

Finally got my hands on a few of the pictures from Katie and Aaron's wedding. Their wedding was featured on the Knot some time ago but I'd had a really hard time finding the pics to upload. Today I was surprised to see that the images and the original feature were magically linked to our Knot profile! Katie is an amazing illustrator and she and Aaron designed the invitation suite together. Together with Dick & Jane, we nailed down the colors, paper and final details. Everything turned out wonderfully and the pics from the ceremony/reception were just AMAZING! Have a look for yourself!

We ran these last July but today I was going through some of our archive books and found a couple left over prints. These we're absolutely one of our favorites from 2014. The interest in foil was just starting to pick up and lucky for us, Catherine and Ken we're amazing to work with. We started by looking at some examples but after talking some more about other possibilities, Catherine gave  pretty free rein to "do what we do." The final result couldn't have been more stunning. Gold foil and cool grey letterpress filigree invitation. We knocked these out on the 220 Lettra and finished everything off with a gold painted edge.

The BIG announcement we've been waiting to finally share! We're moving to a brand new storefront studio location. We're still in the same building but we're no longer occupying the interior unit. We've expanded to the street front and the new studio is being built out as I type! So many new things are happening. New floors, doors and lighting; we're adding some fun furniture and some really killer decor sourced from some of our favorite local vintage and modern furniture companies. It looks like we're even buying some new equipment to increase productivity!

Real talk: For a long time we've quietly cranked out some really amazing work for clients across the globe. Well now it's time to share what we do and how we do it with everyone right here in our home town! We're really excited to show you just what we're up to so definitely stay tuned!

Chris and John came in a few weeks ago wanting an invitation to gather friends and family to formally celebrate their marriage. That said, they were definitely in search of a more casual feel so they came up with the idea of having a garden party! Did I mention John owns an absolutely wonderful landscaping company? Needless to say, their garden/yard is a real treat. Chris also wanted to integrate a font styling that had an architectural feel without being too fussy. We sat down over some samples, chatted about the neighborhood, and came up with this amazing duotone green on green leaf format which in its completion, really struck a chord. Gold foil, blush, reds, great and sea foam appear to be the trend for us this year. We've done more gold foil this season than any past year and we couldn't be more excited to show off the work! Our last post included the quilted pattern while this piece shows off both letterpress and gold foil on 2-ply as well as a stunning, vibrant red painted edge! Summer is going by so quick! EEK! We have been slammed over the past few months making it difficult to keep the blog as updated as we'd like. Sonny just turned 2. We have a new intern and a new employee. We have recently finished some really amazing print projects. Took a trip to California. New Equipment and new friends. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. Here's a pic or two from the Parade that runs just down our street.

Here is a set we finished this past summer which eventually found its way into a spread in this seasons issue of Minnesota Bride Magazine. We've had a lot of buzz regarding this invitation suite since then and are now in the works of producing Minnesota Wild themed tickets! They should be quite amazing too. If you're looking for some kind of plane ticket invitation, do let us know as well. There's something already in the works there too!

Say hello to our newest team member - Jenny Da. Jenny comes to us from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She's an MCAD Sophomore with a great eye for design and composition. She's working closely with us to aid in the creation of some really new and exciting invitation designs which we will be unveiling in the next few weeks or so. Some of the pieces she's creating include an amazing Minneapolis skyline featuring a flare of Marimekko style as well as some fun scroll work pieces. Last Friday Dick and Jane Letterpress took a little day trip to the University of Minnesota. We received invitation to their St. Paul campus for a visit with a fine fellow by the name of James Boyd-Brent. James has been hard at work collecting an ensemble of letterpress equipment for their blossoming letterpress courses. Just a quick four block walk from our shop to McNeal Hall, the studio is simply too intriguing to pass up a visit. The walls were lined with type cabinets and the shop currently consists of a couple Vandercook Proof presses along with a hand press in AMAZING condition. We spent a hour or so discussing the shop and the many possibilities of the program. With the semester now at an end we are eagerly awaiting the fall term to begin so that we can drop in once more for additional letterpress photos and discussion. Admittedly, the photos are a little lower quality than I'd prefer but I was using the iphone camera.
